7/4/2012 10:44 a.m. A patriotic note

Yesterday I dropped the last of the first round of proofs off to my editor, Matt Heidenry. We talked about a number of things we had to do before the final product is etched in stone around July 18. That includes one more readthrough and some possible minor changes on the cover. It also may include a dedication.

So this morning I wrote a dedication, around the time I put this flag up in front of our house. It pays patriotic homage to the Germans who came to St. Louis and to all immigrants and includes the date July 4, 2012. I’m not sure if they’ll use it. If they do, I hope you enjoy it. Happy Fourth, all you sons and daughters of those who came to these shores.
