The sign notes that Providence Place in the Dutchtown neighborhood has the honorary designation of Knapstein Place.
Knapstein Place was named for Frank Knapstein, a German immigrant, contractor and namesake for Knapstein Place. The one-block street was one of six in St. Louis whose names were changed during World War I because of anti-German hysteria.
The dedication of a sign marking the honorary designation of Knapstein Place will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, November 15. Reproduction signs can be made for $30-$40 apiece. If you want one, e-mail me for details at [email protected].
