Had a treat tonight. I attended this month’s meeting of the German Special Interest Group of the St. Louis Genealogical Society. Gerald Perschbacher, a founder of the group, introduced me and said some very kind words about me and my book. He was a very big help. I also saw the final, final cover. ItContinue reading “7/11/2012 A stop at G-SIG”
In a week, I’ll turn in the final proofs. It’s been more than a year since I first started. The book looks good. In a little over six weeks, it’ll be out. I’ll have my release party from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at the Feasting Fox Restaurant, 4200 S. Grand Blvd. in St. Louis.Continue reading “7/10/2011 Coming close”
Yesterday I dropped the last of the first round of proofs off to my editor, Matt Heidenry. We talked about a number of things we had to do before the final product is etched in stone around July 18. That includes one more readthrough and some possible minor changes on the cover. It also may includeContinue reading “7/4/2012 10:44 a.m. A patriotic note”
Lorraine and I finished the first round of proofreading tonight. Now it goes to Matt Heidenry, who will give it back for the final read.
As anyone can see, I’m head over heels about the book as the month ends. I’ve spent a lot of time in the last two or three days finishing up the proofreading. Matt Heidenry should get it on on Monday. When he’s done, it comes back for a final read. I’m also working on theContinue reading “6/30/2012 auf Wiedersehen June”
With this post, Heidi the Beer, Brats, and Baseball beer lady officially moves to a new web address I’ve been working on: stlouisgermans.com. I’ve posted at jimmerkelauthor.wordpress.com for several months but want to be at the new address before we publish the book. She’s also been on Facebook at the address Beer, Brats, and Baseball: St. Louis Germans andContinue reading “6/27/2012 guten Tag”
I picked up the last stack of proofs from Matt Heidenry today. right. I read it over. It looks pretty good. I’ll spend the rest of the week working on it. I also worked on my new website. As you can see, the website looks pretty good. The guy with the knobby knees at left looks sortContinue reading “Writer’s Diary 6/27/2012”
Turned in one set of proofs. Won’t get another set until tomorrow. So I worked on a new web site, “stlouisgermans.com,” which goes up in a few days.
You can now buy Beer, Brats, and Baseball: St. Louis Germans from Amazon.com to be shipped when it’s released Sept. 1. But it won’t have my signature. For that, you’ll have to come to my release party from 2-5 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Feasting Fox, 4200 S. Grand.
When Constance Cafazza e-mailed me an order of eight copies of Beer, Brats, and Baseball: St. Louis Germans and one copy of Hoosiers and Scrubby Dutch: St. Louis’s South Side, I volunteered to deliver it myself, in lederhosen. I had a blast with Cafazza and Chaz Niemoeller at their Bevo Mill home last night. ChazContinue reading “My time as Santa Kraut”
